Core module
During the first semester you will take part in the Department of History’s existing MA core course, 'History: Approaches, Methods, Challenges'. Focusing on approaches to history and methods in historiography, the core module aims to provide a solid base within the discipline and also highlight the range of optional modules taught across the department’s MA programmes. A team of teachers contributes to classes drawing on their own period-specific expertise. The teaching staff on the MA will contribute several classes relating to Jewish history and culture. The MA programme organiser will liaise closely with the core module co-ordinator to monitor students’ progress and to ensure students’ academic needs are met. In addition, we will provide guidance on the planning of the written essay which should relate to issues relevant to Jewish history, culture, and thought.
